The Threat of Hidden Parasites

Parasites are more than just a nuisance; they are carriers of severe infectious diseases. Fleas can cause severe allergic dermatitis and transmit tapeworms. Ticks carry Lyme disease, Ehrlichiosis, and Anaplasmosis. Internal worms (like roundworms, hookworms, and whipworms) drain nutrients and cause gastrointestinal distress, while heartworms can lead to fatal cardiac and pulmonary failure.

Choosing the Right Treatment Profile

Modern parasite prevention is highly effective and available in multiple formats:

  • Oral Chews: Tasty monthly tablets that kill fleas and ticks quickly. Highly convenient for families with small children since there is no chemical residue on the fur.
  • Topical Spot-Ons: Liquid applied to the skin at the base of the neck. Offers excellent protection and often includes mosquito and biting-fly repellents.
  • Injectables: Long-acting preventative injections administered by veterinarians that protect against heartworms for up to 12 months.
